A national reference in manufacturing shock absorbers
VAUSTE has been linked to the automotive sector for more than 50 years.
Our historical trajectory begins with the foundation of Bulnes Shock absorbers, in 1965. The company was created by the Gijoneses Echevarría and the Medio brothers.
Just a year later, we obtained the patents from the English company Armstrong Patent to manufacture shock absorbers, which had a great implantation among the original manufacturers in the United Kingdom. Thus, we began to supply for AUTHI (Automóviles de Turismo Hispano Ingleses, S.A.), which manufactured in Pamplona.
In the 70's, an agreement was reached with Ford to produce parts for the Fiesta model. The continuous success achieved and the significant increase in production, led to the interest of the multinational Armstrong in the company, until acquiring, in 1976, ownership of the Gijon factory, which began to operate under the Armstrong trademark. Working with Ford was a leap, not only quantitative but also qualitative, due to the high standards of production quality demanded by the brand.
The eighties brought with it a consolidation of the companies manufacturing components for the automotive sector. This was how, in 1989, Monroe (Tenneco) arrived in Gijón. Armstrong was absorbed by the American multinational Tenneco. In 2006, Monroe became Tenneco Automotive Ibérica, S.A. Since then, our firm has remained linked to the manufacturing of Monroe shock absorbers in Gijón.
In 2016, Quantum Capital Partners AG acquired the company and was renamed VAUSTE Spain S.L.U., with a new business project focused on diversifying products and manufacturing automotive components with high added value.
During this year, first contacts were made between two local companies to found the company called Bulnes.
